Extracurricular

The St. Aloysius School Band program is conducted in partnership with the BGSU Department of Music Education. For 30 years, students from BGSU have taught band to our students. The graduate students who instruct our students are generally here for two years. St. Al’s students in grades 5-8 may participate in Band. An annual Christmas concert and spring concert are held to showcase the talent of the band members. Students will receive grades for their participation in band and are exempt from the school music program.

Joining the student body in singing out God’s glory during school Masses is our student Church Choir. Led by our general music teacher, Mrs. Donella Wilt, the students are a joyful addition to our weekly liturgies.

Parish activities available to all school students include Altar Servers (grades 4-8), Cub Scouts and Scouting BSA, and CYO sports.

CYO Sports that are offered by St. Aloysius Parish include:

K-8 cross country
4-8 Track
5-8 girls’ volleyball
5-8 boys’ football (with St. Rose)
5-8 girls’ basketball
5-8 boys’ basketball

Students also regularly participate in community service projects in conjunction with the parish including Food Pantry collections, Rockathon for the BG Pregnancy Center and many more.

Class Trip and Camp

Each year our 8th grade students have the opportunity to attend a class trip, generally to Washington, DC for four or five days. Every other year our 6th and 7th grade students attend an outdoor education program together, generally a week at Camp Storer. These memorable experiences are an additional cost, funded by parents and fundraising activities.
